As a first phase in a large scale project for The Bosch Group, LED Lease refitted the hallway, four office spaces, a meeting room and two training centres at their Department of Continuous Improvement Projects. These are the first 100 lamps put up to kick off a 25.000 lamps project for refitting their offices and R&D and manufacturing facilities. The first 5.000 LED tubes are being installed in May 2010.

The facilities manager in Penang said his colleagues did need a day or two to get used to the new lights in their offices. "The colour and brightness was slightly different, and people did of course notice this. However, we did not receive any negative feedback." On the contrary, when we interviewed one of his colleagues in the CIP department, she said: "I am proud that our firm chooses to take part in a number of sustainability initiatives. I feel good to work in a LED fitted workspace. We all are more conscious of the effect of our daily routines on the natural environment."

LED Lease installed 30 T8 LED tube lights in the hallway and reception area of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Island Hospital of Penang, Malaysia. This pilot is to test the light quality.

Upon interviewing the nurses and doctors at the department, they said to be very pleased with the new lighting scheme: "The area appears brighter, and not so dull." Another staff member states: "We even look healthier in this light, as the colour is so natural."

The staff recommended refitting the patient’s rooms with LED lights as well, so one room has now been fitted with LED for the hospital to analyse the patient’s reactions. From a practical standpoint, the head nurse of the O&G department says: "It’s hassle-free as the lamps are long lasting. Once he’s put them up, we won’t see the handyman in years."
